Photos: Residents Pitch in for 2nd Annual Great Montauk Cleanup
Spirits were high despite soggy skies as the biggest Montauk cleanup ever kicked off Saturday.
MONTAUK, NY - Residents aiming to keep the place they love pristine teamed up for the 2nd Annual Great Montauk Cleanup Saturday.
The event, to celebrate Earth Day, was organized by the Concerned Citizens for Montauk, and was hailed as the biggest cleanup ever in the area.
CCOM partnered with Mickey's Carting, Third House Nature Center, the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society, Surfrider Foundation, Camp Soul Grow and Montauk Playhouse to keep the area beautiful

In addition, CCOM joined forces with Imagination Nature's 3rd Annual Shoreline Sweep, with collective efforts extending to Wainscott.
The group met at Kirk Park Parking Lot to receive free bags and gloves.

Despite a soggy start to the day, spirits were high as all pitched in to help.
Concerned Citizens of Montauk, headed up by President Jeremy Samuelson, has been working hard since 1970 to "keep Montauk, Montauk," the group says.
