Renowned Photographer Peter Beard Missing From Montauk Home

Peter Beard, the world-famous artist and photographer, has dementia and was last seen on the Old Montauk Highway, police said.

MONTAUK, NY — World-renowned photographer and artist Peter Beard has gone missing from his Montauk home, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police Department, Peter Hill Beard, 82, is a "missing vulnerable adult with dementia" who may be in need of medical attention. Beard is 5 feet 10 inches and 176 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes.

Beard was last seen on the Old Montauk Highway at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday. He was wearing a blue fleece pullover, black jogging pants and blue sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or East Hampton Town Police Department at 631-537-7575.

Beard has worked with artists including Andy Warhol, British painter Francis Bacon, Salvador Dali and Truman Capote. Beard showed his work at the Guild Hall in East Hampton in 2016, according to People magazine.
