'Stars Over Montauk' July 4 Fireworks Show Set To Delight

A fundraising dinner cruise will also be held, with proceeds to benefit the fireworks show, the Montauk Chamber of Commerce says.

MONTAUK, NY — Montauk's July 4 "Stars Over Montauk," a Gucci-produced fireworks show, is set to delight for the 22nd year.

The event is sponsored by the Montauk Chamber of Commerce.

“This American tradition since July 4, 1777, is one that the Montauk chamber steadfastly maintains,” Laraine Creegan, the chamber’s executive director, said. “We provide the funds and fundraise for what we believe is the most spectacular fireworks production in the entire East End."

The fireworks show is free to the public; however, the event costs more than $24,000 and donations to the Chamber are still welcome, notes Creegan.

A local Montauk radio station coordinates patriotic music that kicks off when the show begins; listeners can hear it on their digital devices and radios tuned to 104.7 WELJ FM or their WELJ mobile app.

The fireworks can be viewed from Umbrella Beach at 9 p.m., at points throughout the hamlet or from the water aboard the Viking Starship, a fundraising dinner cruise sponsored by the chamber and the Viking Fleet. Proceeds are applied to fireworks events, and a rain date has been set for July 5.

The cruise sails to Umbrella Beach, starting with a beverage and appetizers at Sammys near the Viking Dock at 6 p.m.; boarding begins at 7 p.m. The cruise includes an all American buffet picnic dinner with beer, wine and soda, live dance music by the Dog Watchers all evening, and a 50/50 raffle. The 21-and-over event costs is $100; tickets are available on the chamber’s website or the office.
