Woman Charged With DWI After Accident: Police

The accident took place on Montauk Highway, police said.

WAINSCOTT, NY - A Montauk woman involved in a Wainscott car accident was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Anne Maegli, 54, was arrested on June 16 at 5:40 p.m. and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, a first offense.

Maegli was driving west on Montauk Highway and Georgica Drive in a 2015 tan Jeep when she was involved in the accident, police said.

During the interview, police said they noticed that she had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, she lacked proper coordination and was unsteady on her feet, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered.

She was released on her own recognizance, police said.
