9-Year-Old Rushed To Jacobi After Hit-And-Run, Driver, Suspected Of Being Intoxicated, Arrested: Police

The suspect was taken to Mount Vernon Hospital for medical treatment prior to processing, according to MVPD.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — An arrest has been made in a hit-and-run that injured a child, according to police.

At 2:29 p.m. this afternoon, a 9-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Officers quickly responded to the area and, through the course of the investigation, located the suspect vehicle in a parking lot on South 6th Avenue.

The driver was taken into custody and placed under arrest on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), pending further investigation and the filing of formal charges.

The child was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect was taken to Mount Vernon Hospital for medical treatment prior to processing, according to MVPD.

The investigation remains active, according to police.
