• ELOC Offers Free Computer And AI Classes For High School Students In Mount Vernon (blackwestchester.com) — Free Saturday computer and AI classes for high school students are coming to SUNY Westchester Community College's Mount Vernon campus this fall, with sessions running October 3 through December 12. Mount Vernon teens can learn computer basics, Microsoft Office, AI tools, and career skills at no cost, with a graduation ceremony planned and simple registration via QR code or phone.
   

• Car stolen with toddler inside: NY police (pix11.com) — Mount Vernon police say a 1-year-old girl was briefly taken when a woman allegedly stole a car near Birch Street and Westchester Avenue Tuesday morning, but officers quickly found the vehicle near police headquarters and safely recovered the child. The suspect was arrested, faces kidnapping and grand larceny charges, and residents are urged to share any information with Mount Vernon police.
   

• Safer Streets: Governor Hochul Announces $20 Million for Community-Based Organizations Providing Youth Services and Support in 10 Communities Statewide (ny.gov) — Mount Vernon will receive $2 million through New York's Project RISE program to support local youth services aimed at preventing violence and expanding opportunities. The funding, praised by Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard and state leaders, will bolster community organizations that provide mentoring, mental health support, job training, and other programs designed to help young people thrive and keep neighborhoods safer.
