• Hudson Valley Woman Accused Of Stealing SUV With Child Gives Bizarre Reason (wpdh.com) — A woman from Mount Vernon is accused of stealing an SUV with a toddler inside near Birch Street and Westchester Avenue, before being boxed in close to Mount Vernon Police Headquarters. The child was unharmed but taken to Montefiore Hospital for observation, and the suspect now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact the Mount Vernon Detective Division.
   

• Westchester Confirms Its First West Nile Case of the Year in Yonkers as Metro Detections Climb (medicaldaily.com) — Westchester County has confirmed this year's first human West Nile case in a Yonkers resident, and officials note that recent past infections have included people from Mount Vernon and New Rochelle. Health leaders stress that late summer is peak risk and urge residents to dump standing water, use mosquito repellent, and report large pools of water so the county can treat them.
