• Dog Tied To Tree In Mount Vernon: Investigation Difficult Without More Evidence, SPCA Says (dailyvoice.com) — Mount Vernon officials are still trying to learn who tied an 8‑month‑old dog so tightly to a tree near South Fulton and East 5th that she couldn't turn around. With no nearby cameras or microchip, the SPCA says pursuing charges will be tough, but the city's Animal Warden is continuing to work the case while the rescued dog, now named Journey, is safe and up for adoption.
   

• New York awards $5 million for youth green-job training across 20 groups (fingerlakes1.com) — Mount Vernon youth are set to benefit from a $250,000 state grant supporting ground-source heat-pump training that also builds professional and stress-management skills before technical certification. The funding is part of a $5 million New York program backing 20 community groups statewide to prepare 17- to 24-year-olds for clean energy, conservation, and green-construction careers, including additional grants in New Rochelle, Yonkers, and other regions.
   

• 7 Charged in stalking armed home invasion in Lyndhurst; 1 Suspect Still at Large (news12.com) — A multistate investigation into a violent June home invasion in Lyndhurst, New Jersey has led to seven suspects being charged, including one man arrested in Mount Vernon and now awaiting extradition. Authorities say the group allegedly stalked victims from their business, robbed them at gunpoint in their garage, and restrained a nearby child, with one suspect still at large.
