2 Teens, 26 Cans of Spray Paint, 6 Charges

State police arrested two New Jersey residents whom they said were making graffiti on Thruway property.

On Aug. 6, at about 4:00 p.m., State Police were advised by Ramapo Police Department that while patrolling the Suffern Train Yard, they observed 2 teenagers making graffiti by spray painting on Thruway property.

The teenagers were found to be in possession of 26 cans of spray paint. They were turned over to the State Police, transported to SP Tarrytown for processing.


An 18-year-old from Maplewood, NJ was charged with:

  • Making Graffiti, Class A Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Graffiti Instruments, Class B Misdemeanor
  • Trespass, Violation


A 19-year-old from Mahwah, NJ was charged with:

  • Making Graffiti, Class A Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Graffiti Instruments, Class B Misdemeanor
  • Trespass, Violation

Both were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Village of Hillburn Court on Aug. 20.
