40-Year Reunion For Nanuet Class of 1972 (VIDEO)

About 50 came out for the dinner celebration Friday night at Nanuet Restaurant. About 100 are expected for the reunion dinner Saturday evening at Pearl River Elks Lodge.

Some come as far as California. Others from the Nanuet home they grew up in, like Jack Dos Santos. After 40 years, the Nanuet High School class of 1972 rekindled memories with laughs, drinks and food on Friday night at Nanuet Restaurant.

Jack Wilcox first came up with the idea and Christine Pritchard and Jack Dos Santos took it and ran with it back in November last year. Others that came on board to help out included Karen Onderdonk Davieds, Leslie Mendelson Schlesinger, Diane Lennon Banta and Tina Yacknowitz Bloom.

"One of our classmates (Wilcox) had the idea and Chris(tine) stepped up and more came forward," said Dos Santos.

"Jack organized the 20-year reunion, so I tapped into his experience. Facebook was a bit help," said Pritchard. "20 years ago, many of us still had ties to the community, we had family here that we still visited. Now it's harder to get people to come because our parents have moved away and we have our own lives."

"Yes, we used to travel here to visit family, but now we're now the ones being traveled to," said Dos Santos. "We were nervous in the beginning if we were going to have enough people, but even in the last few days, we had a lot of people saying they were going to come."
