697 Packets of Heroin = 18 Months in Prison

The sentencing of a Margaretville man was announced by the Rockland County District Attorney's Office.

Joshua Levine, 36, of Margaretville, NY was sentenced August 5 before Rockland County Court Judge William K. Nelson to a state prison term of 1 1/2 years and 1 year post release supervision after pleading guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.

He and two companions (Debra Osborne, age 31, of Margaretville, NY and Charles Hall, age 41, of Saugerties, NY) had been driving through Clarkstown Feb. 16, 2014 when police stopped the 1998 Dodge Stratus on the New York State Thruway.

A police dog named Marty searched the vehicle and alerted his partner to heroin secreted in a dashboard panel and the center console, police said.
