Accused Shoplifter Was Carrying Counterfeit: Clarkstown Police
He was arrested Sunday afternoon at the Palisades Center.

Clarkstown police arrested Alfredo Vega, 47, at the Palisades Center Mall on Aug. 30.
At about 4:18 PM the Clarkstown Police Department responded to the Lenscrafters store in the Palisades Center for a report of an attempted larceny. The officers were informed that a suspect had attempted to steal three pairs of eyeglass frames.
While canvassing the area, they observed a man who matched the description given. The Paterson, NJ resident was detained and a show-up led them to conclude Vega was the person who had attempted to steal the frames from the store.

Police said Vega was carrying a brown shopping bag which contained a large amount of merchandise belonging to Francesca’s, a store also located in the Palisades Center.
Police tallied up 48 women’s jewelry items, and 1 pair of women’s pants, all bearing tags from Francesca’s, the total value of which was $1,126.

Vega was also in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill.
He was charged with Possession of a forged instrument 1st (felony), Grand larceny 4th (felony) and Criminal possession of stolen property 4th (felony). He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $50,000.
Vega was transported to the Rockland County Jail and will return to court on Sept. 2.
