After The Storm: Help Still Available For Residents Affected By Hurricane Irene
Emergency officials urge residents to only call 911 for emergencies, not routine questions about power or road conditions.

As Rockland cleans up from Hurricane Irene, county officials say there are community resources available to help those affected by the storm.
· If you have a storm-related issue — and it is not a life-threatening emergency — call your local police department for help or information, don't dial 9-1-1.
· If you are without power and have a person with special medical
needs that require electricity or relocation, call your local police
department and ask to be put on the special needs list and request
assistance.
· To report a power outage or for power outage questions call
Orange & Rockland Utilities at 1-877-434-4100 or visit their website at
www.oru.com. Visit the outage map to get an estimated time as to
when power in your area will be restored. O&R expects to restore power to most customers by Friday.
· If you need to leave your residence and have no where else to go
there is a county shelter at Rockland Community College Fieldhouse,
College Road, Road. Pets are permitted.
· If you are driving on local roads, observe barriers and do not drive into flooded streets. Route 59 in West Nyack remains closed and many local streets around the county are still closed because of down trees, power lines or other storm-related issues.
