Attack on 89-Year-Old Was Sexual Assault

Memory loss has made it difficult for the victim to communicate with police.

NANUET, NY — In a statement issued Friday morning, Clarkstown police officials said the Detective Bureau is now treating the attack earlier this week on an 89-year-old woman as a sexual assault. The case classification is based on medical examinations of the victim.

The woman is experiencing the early stages of memory loss, which accounts for some of the lack of information, officials said.

Police continue to ask for the public’s assistance.
