What started out as empty bins at the beginning, turned into an onslaught of toys at Northern Manor on Middletown Road in Nanuet and at Northern Riverview on Route 9W in Haverstraw, thus making the 2016 Toys For Tots Program here a major success. Today, car loads of toys, some making more than one trip, were taken from the two facilities by Marine Corps League, based out of Pomona, targeted to be given to underprivileged children. The car, overwhelmed with gifts, needed to head back to the warehouse to make room for a truck given the amount of toys collected.

“We are so happy that so many of our families, residents, staff and friends were able to donate,” said Shlomo Katz, Administrator for Northern Manor. “We think about the kids who don’t have during the holidays and you want to see smiles on their faces. This is the way to go.”
The Toys For Tots Program began right after Thanksgiving and as time got closer and closer to Christmas and Hanukah, the bins became overloaded with all kinds of toy trucks, games and dolls. If donations are made after today, Northern Manor and Northern Riverview will not turn anyone away and will continue to accept toys up until this weekend.

"The holidays are a special time and all that we can do to give to these kids goes a long way," said Nancy Milyko, Rockland County's Regional Marketing Director for Centers Health Care. "Staff at Northern Manor and Northern Riverview put their hearts into this year's drive and it showed at the end."
Both Northern Manor and Northern Riverview will not turn anyone away and will be accepting until Christmas.
