Bowling Benefit For Hi-Tor Animal Shelter

This Nanuet resident is looking for bowlers and item donations to be raffled off. SOS: Save Our Shelter

After learning about Hi-Tor's financial difficulties and the condition of the building, many locals are stepping forward to lend a hand to Rockland County's only animal shelter. There's been a petition and high school students gathering contributions. Now, a Nanuet resident is also preparing a fundraiser of her own.

Alexandra Coglianese has an event planned to benefit Hi-Tor on Feb. 23 at New City Bowl from 10 a.m. - noon.

"I am a Nanuet local that heard of Hi-Tor's problems and wanted to help," said Coglianese, who is also a member of the Clarkstown Sunrise Rotary Club. ""Hi-tor has been helping as many as 2,500 animals per year since 1973, it would be a great loss to our community if they were forced to close their doors. I have organized a bowling benefit for Hi-Tor during the mid winter recess break."

Along with bowling, there will be many other activities such as a raffle for baskets, a 50/50 raffle and a donation table set up for Hi-Tor donations. The shelter is looking for donations of dog/cat food, pillows, blankets and kitty litter
