Why do I want to leave my law practice to sit in family court? Why should the people of Rockland County vote for me? Answers to these questions and more in this blog post.

As a candidate for Rockland County Family Court Judge, I am traveling around the county meeting people and discussing my campaign. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and your families. During this time I have been asked two questions repeatedly.
First, why do I want to leave a successful law practice to earn less money and sit in family court?
Second, why should the people of Rockland County vote for me?

I have found that the answers to these two questions are essential in getting to know me as a candidate and, hopefully, having you decide to support my candidacy. This blog will allow you to get to know me better as the most uniquely qualified to be the next Rockland County Family Court Judge. You can also go to my website (www.eisenpress2011.com), to follow my campaign.
I have been committed to public service since I was a teenager. I have worked both with developmentally disabled children and as a reader for blind college students. At NYU, I started a chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I have been a mentor to six inner city young people and am on the board of directors of Youth At Risk, which serves at risk young people, many of whom have been in and out of the foster care system, family court and the juvenile justice system. I have handled countless pro bono custody and support cases on behalf of battered women. Throughout my 22 years of practicing law, I found that this work has consistently provided me with tremendous personal satisfaction.

My connection to Family Court is both professional and personal and I vividly remember the adoptions of my younger brother and sister being finalized in family court. Six years ago the adoption of my son was finalized in family court right here in Rockland County. I believe that these experiences make me uniquely suited to understand the concerns and needs of those young people and their families that come before the Court in what is likely to be their time of greatest stress, need and hope for a better future.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you here in this blog, on my website www.eisenpress2011.com and along the campaign trail!
