Car Slams Into New Holland Village Condo, Driver Accused Of DWi

Police: Nanuet man struggled with police, had to be forcibly subdued.

A Nanuet man is accused of drunken driving and resisting arrest after his car slammed into a condominium building and he then struggled with police trying to arrest him, according to Clarkstown police.

The building, police said, did not sustain structural damage.

Tyrell White, 26, a New Holland Village resident, was arrested as police investigated a 3:35 a.m. incident Saturday, when they found a 2002 Hyundai had struck the condo building, with the car having extensive front end damage. Police said they determined White was driving the car and he was found to be intoxicated. Police said White struggled with police officers and had to be forcibly subdued.

White was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City, where police said he refused to take a chemical breath test for alcohol. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court and released pending a hearing Friday.
