When/Where: Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 pm/140 Rockland Plaza, Nanuet
Why Go: The Clarkstown North High School PTSA holds its second annual Book Fair at the Barnes & Noble in Nanuet. This all-day event will feature prizes (including a Nook reading device), student-run story-times , face painting and activities, as well as student musical performances and an art exhibit.
The day's activities include: Story time for five to 10 year olds happens at 10 a.m, 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. along with facepainting, tattoos and crafts. Enjoy a violin duet at 1 p.m. and vocal performance at 3 p.m.
A percentage of in-store net sales on December 10th and online sales from December 10th to December 16th will be donated to the CHSN PTSA. A percentage of Nook net sales will also be donated to the school. Shoppers must use a special voucher or voucher number when making purchases. Vouchers can be downloaded from www.northptsa.com.

Live Nativity Drive Thru

Koeing Family Chanukah Concert: Mama Doni Presents Chanuka Fever
When/Where: Sunday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 5 p.m./ JCC 450 West Nyack Road, West Nyack
Why Go: Musical program for families with children one to six years old. The Mama Doni Band delights familes throughout the country. “The singer-songwriter breaks the mold of traditional Jewish music, bringing a blend of reggae, rock, folk, country, klezmar and “Jewgrass” to her shows…” Quirky, funny and always unpredictable, Doni’s music brings a fun new twist to Chanukah as she ventures through dance beats, Latin pop, “Jewgrass” hoe-downs, and dazzling disco ditties to make latkes, deridels and Yiddish expressions cooler than ever. Share Christmas and the Holidays
When/Where: 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in Braunsdorf Park in Pearl River
Why Go: The Rotary Club of Pearl River puts together this annual holiday celebration. Floats will go through the town before arriving at Braunsdorf Park at 7:30 p.m. There will be entertainment and caroling starting at 7 p.m. there will be visits with Santa starting at 7:30 p.m., hot chocolate, mulled cider and cookies. Characters such as Mickey and Minnie, Rudolph, Frosty, Donald and Daisy Duck and Alvin the Chipmunk will make appearances. The club will be accepting unrwapped toys to donate to needy children here and at various locations in town.

20th Annual Orangetown Santa Claus 5K Run
When/Where: 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11 in Veteran’s Memorial Park in Orangeburg.
Why Go: Take part in age group competitions and get a little holiday-season exercise. Divisions are Jingle Bell (ages 9-under), Elf (10-14), Reindeer (15-19), Snowflake (20-29), Gingerbread (30-39), Candy Cane (40-49), Santa’s Helpers (50-59), The Eggnoggers (60-69), The Giftwrappers (70-plus)
Cost/Contact: Pre-registration, which is due Dec. 8, cost is $12. Late registration $18.
