Clarkstown Lifts Travel, Business Restrictions
Town officials urge residents to use caution traveling.

The Town of Clarkstown as of 2 p.m. has lifted its restrictions on travel throughout the town, according to Supervisor Alex Gromack.
Gromack said town businesses can also open.
Gromack issued an order late last night banning cars from the roads in the town and ordering businesses to stay closed until 6 p.m. today as a precaution because of Hurricane Irene.

Gromack and Police Chief Michale Sullivan said that after a tour of the town by town officials, they concluded conditions had improved enough to allow traffic.
However, Sullivan said there are still many streets in the town that are affected by flooding and there are many down power lines that Orange and Rockland Utilities crews have to repair. O&R reports that nearly 9,700 Clarkstown residents are currently without power, with 20,990 around the county without power.
