NANUET, NY — Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board held a ceremony Thursday dedicating a street in memory of FDNY Capt. Frank Portelle, who died in March from illness related to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

A Pearl River resident, he joined the FDNY in 1996. His career began at Engine 228, Brooklyn; he then went on to spend most of his career at Ladder 13, Manhattan and then Lieutenant and Captain of Engine 50 in the Bronx.

He died March 13; at the time, the family asked that donations in his honor be made to glioblastomafoundation.org, nyffburncenter.com, or fdnyfoundation.org.
