Clarkstown Reviews Plans to Demolish, Rebuild Nanuet McDonald's

Mavis Discount Tire in Nanuet also seeks OK for expansion.

Clarkstown Planning Board members on Wednesday reviewed two projects in Nanuet, including the planned expansion of Mavis Discount Tire and the planned reconstruction of the Nanuet McDonald's.

McDonald's USA, LLC, has proposed the demolition of its existing restaurant in the Rockland Center shopping center just off Route 59 and Smith Street in Nanuet. A new, more modern one-story, 5,454-square-foot McDonald's would be constructed at the .25-acre site.

One thing looking to be upgraded, besides the general appearance for the restaurant, is the drive-thru. The new proposal calls for as many as 11 cars to wait comfortable on the drive-thru without the backup spilling out onto the shopping center parking lot of its access road off Smith Street.

The board told the group representing the McDonald's they should have the proposal reviewed by the town zoning board as well.  The Planning Board members voted to keep the public hearing open so more information could be gathered on the project.

At Mavis Discount Tire on Smith Street near the Route 59 intersection, the business is seeking a 1,562-square-foot addition to its existing 7,414-square foot, two-story commercial building on .79 acres.
