Clarkstown Stars Seeks Sponsors To Fund August Trip (VIDEO)

August may seem like light years away for 12-year-olds, but these 13 boys are excited and getting ready. From August 18 – 25, Clarkstown Stars Gold—a travel baseball program that supports year-round teams—is heading to Cooperstown Dreams Park for the 12u NYAABC State Summer Champions.

They have been selected to play at Cooperstown in the American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament against teams from across the country and will also be inducted into the Youth Baseball Hall of Fame.

There are kids from New City, Nanuet, Nyack, Valley Cottage, Congers and Queens:

• Daniel Collamore - New City
• Daniel Donoghue - New City
• Connor Roadarmel - New City
• Matthew Semon - Nyack
• Justin Marraccino – Nyack
• AJ Stellato - Valley Cottage
• Zach Stone - Valley Cottage
• Andrew Olsen - Valley Cottage
• Jake Rivera - Congers
• Justin Pacheco - Queens

Practice started last month and the boys are looking for sponsors for a banner that they will hang at their 90 games this year. Sponsors can also go on the team practice T-Shirt.

At $800 per child, Cooperstown is not a wallet-friendly trip for parents and they’re looking for sponsors to help defray the costs.

Coach Hal Stone gets the boys practicing twice a week throughout the winter with hitting and fielding.

“These kids have been together for a really long time. Most of them have been on the team since 7-years-old,” said Stone. This is his first year as manager, but he’s no stranger to baseball.

At Nyack High School, he’s the modified baseball coach, varsity soccer coach and a Physical Education teacher.

As part of the NY Club Elite league, the Clarkstown Stars has had its share of success in the past with a win in the Bergen County Classic and in 2011, the 14u were NYAABC State Federation Champions, 13u were NYEB Summer League Champions, 12u were NYAABC State Summer Champions and the other age groups brought home many other titles of their own.

The deadline for sponsors is April 14 and the sponsor letter is attached to this article.
