Clarkstown Will Enforce Residents-Only Rule in Town Parks

The town supervisor said additional officials would start monitoring all town parks.

Clarkstown Supervisor Alex Gromack announced today that the town is stepping up its current enforcement of a long-standing code that states town parks are for residents only.

“With the good weather upon us, we want to remind residents that there are no dogs allowed in town parks, we will not tolerate littering and vandalism, and our parks are for residents only,” Gromack said in a prepared statement. “We have always had these town ordinances in our code but we feel the need to ensure greater compliance.”

According to the code (chapter 202-1-A), people must show identification when using Clarkstown parks.

The Town will have additional park enforcement officers monitoring all Town Parks at various hours and days to enforce all Town ordinances related to parks, including:

  • residents only
  • no dogs or pets allowed
  • no littering/vandalism

In addition, he said, seasonal recreation staff, as in past years, will be randomly placed at the entrances to various Town Parks to check residents‘ identification.
