Coach Accused Of Sex Abuse

The Port Chester resident owns gyms in Suffern and Hillburn.

A well-known gymnastics coach in Rockland County is accused of sexually abusing children. Joseph Lewandoski, known as Joseph Lewin, faces six felony charges, Ramapo police said.

Lewin, 67, lives in Port Chester and owns gyms in Suffern and Hillburn.

He was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual conduct against a child and first-degree sexual abuse, all felonies.

Lewin's former places of business were The Gym (A.k.a. Joe’s Gym), which had been located at 143 Rt. 59 in the Village of Hillburn, and The Gym which had been located at 7-11 Suffern Place in the Village of Suffern. Both of these gyms are no longer in business.

Authorities said at least five children under 13 were allegedly abused between 2001 and 2014.
