Coming Up: Free French Meetup in Rockland

Summer vacation's almost here. Are you going to France? Or maybe you just like French culture and the language. Brush up on your French at the Second Anniversary and Potluck of Greta Inowlocki's French Meetup. 

"The Hudson Valley French Language & Culture Meetup is a welcoming and social group of people who love to speak French and are interested in cultural events and activities related to the French language," said Inowlocki.

This free Meetup is at 1 p.m. June 11 at a private home in Rockland County so sign up at Meetup.com to find out more details.

These friendly get-togethers will be divided into beginners/intermediate and advanced levels. Native speakers will also help improve your French. The group meets up once or twice a month in a café, restaurant or at someone's home. The regular meetings last about two hours and the cultural field trips last longer.

"I organize all kinds of activities, mostly in Rockland county. Sometimes in Bergen and Westchester though. I prepare games to help people use and learn French," she said. "People enjoy it and it improves their French."

Her activities will also include:

• French games

"We'll watch movies and discuss them," Inowlocki said, adding that there are always subtitles because some are still beginners. "The purpose is to have a fun, inviting place for those who learned French in school or those who are interested in improving or using their French. I constantly have people coming back from vacation or gonig on vacation."

So if you want to practice and improve your French and meet like-minded people, are interested in francophone cultural activities, food, events, tours and trips, all while making new friends.
