Cops Say Nanuet Woman Resisted DWI Arrest

She encountered police after an accident in Pearl River.

Nanuet resident Barbara Adu-Gyamfi is due in Orangetown court Dec. 15 to answer charges of felony unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.

Orangetown police said they were called to an accident on Middletown Road in Pearl River at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

Adu-Gyamfi showed signs of intoxication, they said. She refused to take sobriety tests at the scene. When police found she was driving with a suspended license and attempted to place her under arrest, she actively resisted. She was taken to police headquarters where she also refused to take a breathalyzer test.

She was arraigned and released on bail.
