Cops Seek Public's Help Over Nanuet 19-Year-Old's Shooting Death

He was found lying mortally wounded on a street in Rockland County on Dec. 7.

NANUET, NY — Ramapo police are asking the public to help them solve the mystery surrounding the death of Nicholas Jasiel, the 19-year-old found lying mortally wounded on a street in Hillcrest Dec. 7.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting at 9 p.m. found Jasiel at the intersection of Dwight Avenue and Mallory Road. He was taken by ‪Rockland Paramedics and Springhill Ambulance Corps Nyack Montefiore Hospital and then transferred to Westchester Medical Center, where he died Dec. 9.

The Nanuet resident had graduated from Clarkstown South High School in 2018.

Detectives are looking for the public’s assistance.

"Nicholas Jasiel, a 19 year old from Nanuet, was shot and was killed as a result of some unknown confrontation that took place on Dwight Ave., in Hillcrest. Detectives are actively following up on several leads," they said on Facebook. "If anyone has any information in regards to this case, please contact the Ramapo Police Department, Investigations Division at (845)357-2400 or submit an ANONYMOUS TIP using the “RocklandCo DA” Tip411 app (available in the App Store or Google Play)."
