County Legislature To Consider Advertising New City and Spring Valley Buildings
Meeting agenda includes accepting funds from state and federal agencies.

The Rockland County Legislature will meet tonight to take votes on steps leading to the proposed sale of two . Legislators will decide if advertising should be authorized for 2 New Hempstead Road in New City and 185 North Main Street in Spring Valley.
The two multi-story structures have been identified as no longer needed for public use. The sale of the buildings to either a public or private entity has been touted as a way to raise funds to shrink the county’s budget deficit.

Votes will also be cast on accepting funds from different federal and state agencies. Legislators will vote on accepting $30,000 from the US Department of Justice. The funds are reimbursement for overtime and expenses incurred by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force of the county’s Sheriff’s Department.
Acceptance of a grant from the New York State Department of Health will be voted on. The $300,000 allocation is a Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play Grant for April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013 for the county’s Department of Health.

An additional $425,207 is forthcoming from the New York State Office of Mental Health for the Mental Health Association of Rockland County (MHA). The additional funds will be utilized for the Personal Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) program at MHA.
The legislative session begins at 7 p.m. at 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.
