Deer Causes Fatal Crash On Palisades Parkway
The driver struck the deer and veered left off the road onto the grass median, where the car overturned, striking several trees.
CLARKSTOWN, NY — A deer bounding onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday apparently caused a fatal crash. State police said the accident took place south of Exit 11 in Clarkstown.
A 2015 Nissan Altima operated by Thomas Kofi, 68, of Spring Valley, was traveling southbound when a deer entered the roadway from the west shoulder, state police said.
The car struck the deer and veered left off the road onto the grass median, where it overturned into a wooded area striking several trees.

Responding troopers found the passenger, Miriam Kofi, 50, unconscious in the car. She was removed from the vehicle and CPR was initiated by a trooper. CPR was continued until EMS arrived. Miriam Kofi was transported to Nyak Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Thomas Kofi was transported to Westchester Medical Center with internal injuries.
