Ballard Defeats Malone for Clarkstown Highway Superintendent (VIDEO)

Malone: Democrat; Ballard: Republican, Conservative, Working Families, Independence

Unofficial results from elections officials in Rockland show Wayne Ballard winning re-election as by a difference of 1,143 votes -  9,070 to 7927.  Ballard received 53 percent of the vote compared to Malone's 46 percent. 

"Who would have ever imagined in just one election there would have been: petitions, challenges to petitions, court cases on two different party lines, a primary, OTB (opportunity to ballot), a caucus, negative campaigning the likes I have never seen before," Ballard told the crowd at the Comfort Inn.

He also mentioned the hurricane, earthquake and snowstorm and power outages.

"It felt like this was the campaign that never ended," he said. "But despite all of that the voters have spoken and it's a victory."

Ballard will serve his eighth two-year term as highway superintendent.  Ballard, 54, of Clarkstown ran on the Republican, Conservative, Working Families, and Independence lines. Malone, 57, of Congers is a Democrat. Ballard is a professional engineer licensed by the State of New York.
