Driver in Thruway Truck Jacknifing Made Unsafe Lane Change: Police

This morning during rush hour a tractor-trailer came to rest across all northbound lanes near Exit 14B.

State Police were called to Interstate 87 in Ramapo at 8:45 this morning for a jackknifed tractor-trailer blocking all the northbound lanes.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that Christopher J. Luckett, 47, of Louisville, KY was driving a 2013 Freightliner north on the New York State Thruway when he lost control and struck the guide rail and earth embankment on the east shoulder. The tractor-trailer then came to rest across the highway.

Luckett was transported to Good Samaritan hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. He was issued tickets for Moving from Lane Unsafely, Driving Across Hazardous Markings and No Seatbelt.
