Drunk Nanuet Woman Who Killed Ossining Candidate Sentenced to 1-3 Years in Prison
She pleaded guilty in May.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Michelle Sergio, 39 of Nanuet, was sentenced today to an indeterminate term of 1 to 3 years in prison on her May 2014 guilty plea to the indictment that charged her with:
• two counts of Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, class “D” Felonies,
• two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, class “A” Misdemeanors,

relating to the death of John Mangialardi, a well-known local attorney who was a candidate for Town Justice.
At 10:15 p.m. Sept. 3, 2013, Mangialardi was out posting election campaign signs at the intersection of Route 9A and Route 134 in the Town of Ossining.

Sergio, on the way to work at a social service agency in Ossining, struck him as he was crossing Route 9A. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter by responding EMTs. She was found to have a blood alcohol level of .12 at the time of this incident.
After an accident reconstruction, police arrested her.
Assistant District Attorney Timothy Ward, Chief of the Career Criminal Bureau prosecuted the case.
