Employee Theft At Nanuet Retailer: Clarkstown Police
Falsifying store returns netted a few thousand bucks, police allege.
NANUET, NY — A Spring Valley man is accused of stealing from his employer.
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to Sears at the Shops of Nanuet for a report of an employee stealing. Officers interviewed the store manager who stated that an employee had been creating false returns in the store register and kept the money.
It is alleged that the employee, identified as Carlentz Desire, 21, of Spring Valley, NY, had created false returns and transferred the funds onto his debit card. The value of these transactions totaled $5,483.

Desire was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with grand larceny 3rd (felony), criminal possession of stolen property 3rd (felony) and falsifying business records 1st (felony).
Desire was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $2,500. He was transported to the Rockland County Jail. He is to return to court on Aug. 8.
