"I Hear America Singing" - Hudson Valley Chorale

American choral music has evolved quickly when comparing our country’s relatively brief history with that of other nations. It is a conglomerate of the musical traditions of the many cultures that came to our shores. Because of this, no one particular style has become dominant. Rather, all variations are accepted, used, and are being enjoyed to this day.

The Hudson Valley Choral will embark on a journey across these varying styles of American music in its spring concert, “I Hear America Singing.” Selections range from early colonial times, Appalachian and Shaker folk harmonies, jazz, soul-stirring patriotic hymns and flag-waving favorites. In short, there will be something for everyone, including songs designed for a little audience participation.
