Rockland BOCES/Mental Health Association offer NO-COST Applied Behavior Analysis workshop.

Rockland BOCES/Mental Health Association offer NO-COST Applied Behavior Analysis workshop.
For the past several years Rockland BOCES has partnered with the Mental Health Association in providing a NO-COST, 8-week workshop series for parents and other caregivers on Applied Behavior Analysis. Using the ABA method, students with autistic spectrum disorder and other cognitive disorders learn to speak, play and to live productively.

Among other things, participants at this ABA workshop will learn the theory behind the use of ABA instruction; how to teach skills to a child using ABA instruction and methodology; how to use reinforcers systematically to motivate a child and reinforce progress; how to incorporate communication, behavioral/emotional, social, pre-academic/academic and life skills; and how to deal with inappropriate behavior.

This workshop will also provide methods for increasing attention span, motivating learning and curiosity, improving behavior and generalizing skills from school to home.
