Tapestry as Art Medium

The opening reception is Sept. 10.
"Under the Influence- Objects of Obsession" - Susan Martin Maffei and "Exploring Woven Tapestry" - Archie Brennan.

Archie Brennan & Susan Martin Maffei are internationally-known tapestry artists who have been working in their chosen medium for a combination of more that 85 years. They have exhibited and taught in Museums, Universities, Galleries and Art Centers around the World and have work in both public and private collections. The spacious GAGA Arts Center galleries allow for the presentation of a large exhibition of their more recent works.

Susan's work focuses on the narrative of everyday life and personal events. Influenced by ancient & historical tapestry forms, her exhibit is an exploration of scrolls, storyboards, murals & miniatures.

Over many decades and some hundreds of woven tapestries, Archie has sought to identify and extend this ancient medium via a range of graphic pictorial themes presented in this exhibit.

Gallery hours: Friday 4-8 p.m., Saturday 2-6 p.m., Sunday, 12-4 p.m. or by appointment at 646-796-9798
