Felony DWI on the Thruway

A Spring Valley man was arrested by New York state police.

State police patrolling the New York Thruway at 4 p.m. Jan. 9 stopped a vehicle driven by Jean Claude A. Mehu, 61, for numerous traffic law violations.

It was determined that Mehu was impaired after he failed field sobriety tests and the Spring Valley resident was transported to State police barracks in Tarrytown for processing—where he refused a breath test.

He was charged with felony DWI due to a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years. He is due in Clarkstown Court Jan. 14.
