Former Spring Valley Resident Joins Naval History and Heritage Command in D.C.

He's doing computing, communications, social media and research support.

Nana Adu-Krow, a 2007 graduate of Spring Valley Senior High School, recently joined the Naval History and Heritage Command located at the Washington Navy Yard in D.C. In his new position as a command information officer, assistant contract technical representative, Adu-Krow has the distinct opportunity to be a part of a unique Department of the Navy echelon which collects, preserves, and makes available the official records, artwork, artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials that best embody the U.S. Navy’s history and heritage.

Adu-Krow, who earned a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from George Washington University, now spends much of his work time setting up and activating computer accounts as well as ordering communications equipment.

Adu-Krow directly supports NHHC’s efforts by enabling its 250 employees involved in the countless activities that NHHC is responsible for including the Navy Department Library, the Navy Operational Archives, the Navy art and artifact collections, underwater archeology, Navy histories, nine museums, USS Constitution repair facility and the historic ship Nautilus. He has enjoyed “meeting new, incredibly nice people,” he said. “The people have created an environment that makes it enjoyable to come to work every day.”

Adu-Krow’s assets are a necessary ingredient for these historically relevant resources and products which reflect the Navy’s unique and enduring contributions through our nation’s history. He also supports the Fleet by enabling professional research, analysis, interpretive services and within a variety of social media platforms.
