Hi Tor Animal Shelter Receives $500,000 Grant for Capital Campaign

Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski Secures State Funds for New Facility

POMONA, NY; March 27, 2015 -- Hi Tor Animal Shelter has received a $500,000 grant from the New York State Assembly to support the shelter’s Capital Campaign.

The Capital Campaign is a project fund committed to acquiring a new state-of-the-art facility, on a dedicated campus, that will enable Hi Tor to provide the highest standard of care to its shelter animals.

Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski and Lizanne Fiorentino, president of Hi Tor’s Board of Directors, announced the award this evening at Furball, Hi Tor’s first gala fundraiser for the Capital Campaign.

“I am very happy that I was able to secure this grant for Hi Tor, moving them one step closer to making a new shelter a reality. I have a personal relationship with Hi Tor and have seen the love and care they provide for the animals that come to the shelter, treating them like their own until they find permanent homes. Being Rockland’s only animal shelter, the community deserves a quality facility that better meets the needs of the animals,” said Assemblyman Zebrowski. “I look forward to working with Hi-Tor in completing this project to build a shelter we can be proud of and provide animals with the best care possible.”

“We are thrilled to receive this grant,” said Lizanne Fiorentino. “It means that a new shelter for our animals is now more than a promise -- we can now begin to turn our needs assessment into a reality.”
