MONSEY, NY — Firefighters battled a midday blaze that engulfed 46 Forshay Road in Monsey. Ramapo police said that Forshay Road was closed between Crabapple and South Parker Road. Use alternative routes. Helping the Monsey and Hillcrest fire departments were firefighters from Tallman, Spring Valley, Suffern , Hillburn , Sloatsburg and Thiells, Rockland Fires reported on Facebook. In this special presentation, Haverstraw Town Historian Stephen Cobb highlights extraordinary stories, unsung heroes, and pivotal moments that shaped our community and played a vital role in the birth of American independence, including:
<ul><li>Haverstraw’s role in drafting the Declaration of Independence</li><li>The Haverstraw women who helped win the Battle of Stony Point</li><li>The two Haverstraw farmers who foiled Arnold's treasonous plot</li><li>The many Haverstraw residents who faced hardships during the long road to independence</li></ul>
About the presenter: About the presenter: Stephen Cobb studied history and geography at Brandeis University and recently retired as a librarian at Sleep Hollow High School. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Haverstraw King's Daughters Library and has been Haverstraw's Town Historian since 2009.
