Hurricane Preparations: County Briefing In Progress
Local officials get latest information on Hurricane Irene.

Rockland County emergency officials are meeting with local government officials and local police to update them on the status of Hurricane Irene and its possible impact.
County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoeff called the meeting to coordinate efforts to prepare for the hurricane, which is moving up the East Coast and threatening to hit our area on Sunday.
Vanderhoef said he plans on declaring a state of emergency in Rockland County this afternoon. On Thursday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for New York.
