iPhone Swap Foiled in Nanuet: Clarkstown Police
A Florida man faces charges in the shoplifting incident.

An Apple Store employee told police he watched a man take a gold iPhone 6 out of its protective case, swap it with an iPhone 6 with which he had entered the store, and then leave.
Clarkstown Police were called to the store, at 8115 Fashion Ave. in Nanuet, at 5:50 p.m. Dec. 16.
The suspect, Ryan Sumner, 2, of Dade City, FLA, was stopped by the loss prevention officer in the parking lot outside, who found the phone and what later was determined to be stolen merchandise from the Express store at the shopping center.

Sumner punched the loss prevention officer in the face and fled. Police found him shortly afterward at 293 W. Route 59.
The phone is worth $849.00.

No injury was sustained by the victim, police said.
Sumner was arraigned before the Hon. Craig Johns at Clarkstown Justice Court and charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Harassment 2nd degree.
Bail was set at $5,000. Sumner was sent to Rockland County Jail, and is due back in town court Jan. 22.
Express declined prosecution, police said.
