It's Prom and Wedding Season-Got that Tux, Yet?

It’s that time of year. Prom and wedding season.

Spring and awakening flora welcome us along with “I do's" and prom invites.

So what’s a guy to do? Visit in Nanuet, where it has been for 15 years.

“We rent and sell tuxedos, that’s our main goal,” said owner Carlos Rosario. “For wedding parties, bar mitzvahs and proms.”

Although hard to gauge the number of gentlemen fitted with tuxedos for occasions, Michael’s serves all the schools in the Nanuet and Rockland County area, and makes things much easier by reaching out to the schools themselves with General Manager Heber Abreu making visits.

And currently, Michael’s Dante Zeller Tuxedo & Menswear has a specials for prom-goers and gentleman prepping to be in a wedding party. All prom students receive $40 off their order, while all wedding packages, including vest and shoes, start at just $99.

Warren Dobbs works in the New City Public Library, and he stopped in to pick up a shirt for a wedding party rental. It’s not his first time visiting Michael’s Dante Zeller Tuxedo & Menswear.

“I’ve done business here before. As usual,” he said, holding up the shirt and the cuff-links given him by Abreu, “great job.”

Ted Poulos is also from Rockland County.

"I’ve been coming here for years,” he said after getting measured by Abreu for pants and shoes. “They’re big on customer service. The place is untouched. I’ve been to the competition and I come back here for the service.”

And according to Abreu, it’s that special touch which is the key.

“It’s tremendously important," he said. "We’ve had lots of customers visit other stores and then they come to us and stay with us. Most of the people in our company have worked here for over 10 years. When you have that experience, you know how to treat customers.”

As to his tutelage at Michael’s Dante Zeller Tuxedo & Menswear, Abreu notes that two individuals have helped him and the customers tremendously: Dottie Matos, who worked at the store for 21 years, and Beverly Fishman, currently in her 19th year at the Route 59 location.

“They are the ones who put the store on the map," Abreu said. "So many people come in looking for them. Beverly," he added with a smile, “has seen people come in for their prom, and now they’re coming in for their wedding!”
