Lake Nanuet Swamped By Fast-Moving Waters
Waters broke through temporary barriers.
Raging flood waters broke through temporary barriers and swamped the Lake Nanuet recreation area this morning.
Clarkstown workers and Nanuet volunteer firefighters this afternoon were using pumps to help remove some water in the recreation area.
Clarkstown Town Board members and other officials inspected the recreation area during a tour of the town this afternoon to check damage from the hurricane. Along on the tour was state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens.

Town Supervisor Alex Gromack said he was glad Martens could see storm damage in Clarkstown so that the town could get DEC support for future efforts to alleviate flooding in the town.
