Local Roads: Many Streets Still Flooded Or Blocked

Police urge caution on the roads; road blocks preventing traffic from getting through at 7 locations.

Hurricane Irene brought damage, flooding or debris to more than 50 local roads throughout Clarkstown Sunday and some remain closed this afternoon.

Clarkstown police urge motorists to use caution when driving in the town and to watch for debris that still needs to be cleaned up. Police warn drivers not to try to drive into flooded streets — many motorist have had to be rescued throughout Clarkstown and Rockland County because they thought they could make it through a flooded street.

Police town officers are manning road blocks at seven locations to prevent anyone from getting near dangerous locations with severe flooding or down power lines.Those roads are:

- East Avenue, West Nyack
