Man Accused Of Trying To Break Into Detective's Unmarked Car
His dog's barks were the anti-theft alert.

NANUET, NY — An off-duty Rockland County Sheriff’s Detective was awakened by his barking dog at his home in Nanuet at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. He looked out the window and what did he see? Someone trying to break into his car.
His unmarked department vehicle.
He confronted the man, who ran away. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Clarkstown Police Department were notified. Sheriff’s Patrol Officers followed footprints through the snow, spotted the suspect and chased him down.

Ahmad Lakes, 21, was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest and Attempted Petty Larceny (all misdemeanors). The Spring Valley resident was processed at Rockland County Sheriff’s Patrol headquarters and was to be arraigned at Clarkstown Justice Court.
