Man with Gun Chased Through Mall: Clarkstown Police
The Spring Valley resident had threatened to shoot someone during an argument at the Palisades Center.
Police called to a dispute at the Palisades Center chased a man through the mall Aug. 29 before catching him in the underground parking garage.
Police had heard that one of the people involved in the argument at about 6:30 p.m. had lifted his shirt, showing a handgun in his waistband, and threatened to shoot others.
When they arrived, they saw two people fitting the description from the dispute. One saw police and ran. They followed him in a pursuit through the mall, during which one officer lost his footing on the escalator, but despite hurting his shoulder was able to continue.

When they caught up with him in the parking garage, the man, Justin Saul Marrero, was found to be in possession of a loaded .22 caliber revolver.
Marrero, 22, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 2nd (felony), assault 2nd (felony), menacing 2nd (misdemeanor), resisting arrest (misdemeanor) and unlawful possession of marijuana (violation). The Spring Valley resident was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $15,000.

Marrero was transported to the Rockland County Jail and will return to court on Sept. 2.
