Suspect In Custody After Fleeing Hit-and-Run By Train
Clarkstown Police captured a 19-year-old Rockland County man in NJ after he allegedly fled an accident scene.

Clarkstown police apprehended a suspect in a serious hit-and-run that took place this morning in Nanuet after the man allegedly fled the scene by train to New Jersey.
Police responded to numerous reports of an injured pedestrian at the Wald Pavillion in Nanuet at about 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Upon arrival, police observed a seriously injured 54-year-old male and the victim was transported to Nyack Hospital for evaluation.
Police then searched for the suspect, a 19-year-old Rockland County man, and found the white SUV he was driving at the Nanuet train station. There, witnesses told police that the driver of the SUV had boarded a southbound NJ Transit train. NJ Transit held the train transporting the suspect at the Montvale, NJ station until officers arrived and took him into custody.

The suspect was taken to Nyack hospital for blood tests to determine he was under the influence of any substances at the time of the accident. Charges are pending as police await word on the victim's condition.
