Medical Office Manager Accused In $25,000 Theft
D.A.: Woman charged with illegally writing checks to herself from business account.

The manager of a Nanuet medical office has been charged with stealing more than $25,000 from the business, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe.
Zugibe said Deborah Dranoff, 52, of 2 Horizon Court, Highland Mills, is accused of third-degree grand larceny for improperly writing checks to herself from the business account of Advanced Physical Therapy of Nanuet from April 2006 to December 2010.
Dranoff did not have check-writing privileges but routinely forged the signature of the business’ owner, Zugibe said. She is accused of taking $25,478.89.

An audit by an accounting firm hired by the owner uncovered the theft. Zugibe said the arrest of the Dranoff was the result of an investigation conducted by the Rockland County Special Investigations Unit.
Dranoff was arraigned today in Clarkstown Town Court in New City by Judge Scott Ugell. She was released pending an Oct. 5 hearing. Dranoff faces up to seven years in prison, if convicted, Zugibe said.
